Background check: Husband HIV positive gets 3 years sentence

BackgroundPi News Update: “Have you ever been in a situation wherein you need to do a background check to your partner?”

This news is about Tony L. McKenzie, 41, Spillway Road, Lisbon who is now sentenced for three years because of not saying to his wife that he is an HIV positive. His wife according to the Prosecutor agreed with the decision. Investigators said that McKenzie's extensive criminal record may have weighed into Washam's decision in sentencing McKenzie to three years for the felonious assault charge.

According to the court, year 2003 was when McKenzie is being diagnosed to be positive in HIV. By the year 2007 he met his wife and married in 2008. He didn’t tell it to his wife. But when he was hospitalized by the year 2010 because of pneumonia the doctor found it out and insisted to tell it to his wife.

Now that man who had unprotected sex with his wife and was an HIV positive was sentenced to three years in prison by Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge Scott Washam.

This is just an example of cases wherein we can say that even for choosing our man/woman in life, it is important to know more about their history. It is not wrong to do a background check don’t risk your life.
